An excellent example of an early 19th century Country House Silver Chest, it is in wonderful condition externally with the inside in completely original condition, the inside could be tidied up if necessary. The trunk has it’s original iron carrying handles to each side. This chest was probably formerly owned by an officer in the military and used as a campaign chest. We have no working key for this chest.
It has an old brass plate to the front of the trunk with the name “Miss Gordon” engraved on it.
This could be used as an interior design piece as well as being a very useful item.

Founded 1843
Hunt & Roskell was a renowned jewellers and silversmiths on Bond Street in London who for many years held the Royal Warrant of Queen Victoria. The firm was the successor to the celebrated silversmith Paul Storr who had left Rundell, Bridge & Rundell to set up his own workshop on Harrison Street near Clerkenwell in 1819.
