A Victorian "crazy" pattern patchwork quilt, arranged from multi-coloured pieces of different fabrics. Hand-embroidered with botanical and fantastical motifs, including the Lambton Worm, worked in satin-stitch and chain stitch with silk threads, bordered by black velvet.
This quilt has been handed down in the same family in Northern England and was loaned to the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle as part of an exhibition. A piece of true historical value.
